Kakum National Park is a 357km national park of undisturbed rainforest. As one of the oldest national parks in the physical center of the earth; this conservation area consists of the kakum national park and Assin Attandaso Resource Reserve which is just a nearby resource reserve. 

This national park was established in 1932 and it’s a must see for all who visit the central region of Ghana which is undoubtedly the tourism hub of Ghana. From visits to the historical Cape Coast and Elmina Castles Kakum National Park is a must explore for all nature and wildlife enthusiasts. 

Kakum National Park is a natural home to several species of wildlife including over 500 butterfly species, seven primate species including the Diana monkey, 253 species of birds including five hornbill species, the Frazer-eagle owl, and the African grey and Senegal parrots plus over 100 species of mammals, reptiles and amphibians and forty species of larger mammals.

Highlights of a visit to Kakum National Park will include breathtaking walking forest tours including the popular treetop canopy walkway through the forest which provides the opportunity to see much of Ghana’s indigenous plant life, rare butterflies, bird watching and game watching including sighting of the extraordinary bongo and forest elephants.
