Maybe the oldest mud mosque in West Africa is the Larabanga Mosque. Built in the 14th century in Sudanic style it has such a historic importance that the people refer to the site as 'Mecca of West Africa'.
Seven kilometers south-west of Larnaca, close to Larnaca Airport stands the Mosque of Hala Sultan Tekke (also known as the Mosque of Umm Haram) overlooking the Larnaca salt lake.
